Challenges of Large Applications in Distributed Environments (CLADE)
Call For Papers
In conjunction with the 17th International Symposium on High Performance
Distributed Computing (HPDC-17)
Boston, Massachusetts, June 23, 2008
http://www.cs.okstate.edu/clade2008/
Distributed cyberinfrastructure for the realization of e-Science and
e-Business continues to be developed at a rapid pace and across diverse
disciplines. This development reinforces the need for effective
distributed applications. From sensor data to online data collections to
remote visualization, the most challenging problems will be solved by
applications that can make effective use of such distributed,
heterogeneous resources. This workshop will highlight the successful
development, deployment, management and evaluation of large scale
applications in science, engineering, medicine, business, economics,
education, and other disciplines, on Grids and other distributed
heterogeneous and dynamic computing environments.
Topics of interest concerning e-Science and cyberinfrastructure include,
but not limited to, the following:
* Large-scale distributed applications, both computational and data-centric
* Application-specific portals and problem solving Environment
* e-Science applications in physics, biology, astronomy, chemistry,
finance, engineering, and medicine, etc.
* Large, distributed data analysis
* Scientific workflow
* Applications with heterogeneous spatial and temporal characteristics
* Distributed, multidimensional, dynamically adaptive applications
* Sensor Networks and Environmental Observatories in e-Science
* Examples of distributed applications benefiting from advances in
o Application hosting frameworks for distributed environments
o Runtime support for intelligent, adaptive systems
o Programming models for heterogeneous and dynamic computation
o Portability, quality of service, or fault-tolerance in cluster and
Grid computation
o Resource management, dynamic scheduling or load balancing in
heterogeneous environments
PAPER SUBMISSIONS
CLADE 2008 invites authors to submit original and unpublished work.
Please submit full papers (10 pages maximum, IEEE Transactions format).
Electronic submission is required. Submission implies the willingness
of at least one of the authors to register at the workshop and present
the paper. One paper will be honored at the workshop with the best
paper award. Any questions concerning topics, submissions or any other
issues may be directed to the Program Chair.
PUBLICATION
The workshop proceedings will be published by ACM and distributed at the
conference.
