Dear TCSC Members and Colleagues:
I hope you have received Manish Parashar's email related to the call for
nominations for the TCSC Chair (2008-2009) and had some time to think
about opportunities ahead of you! Let me share my personal thoughts with
all and motivate you further. As I indicated in my recent/annual report
of TCSC 2007 activities, TCSC is in strong position (including the
budget/finance) and that means TCSC will have excellent resources
(volunteers, community, finance/budget) for running/strengthening
current programs and creating new ones next year and into the future.
Recently a number of TCSC members and colleagues (including those
currently serving on the executive committee) have encouraged me to run
for the 2nd term. I believe that some of them have already nominated me.
I am honoured by their trust, encouragement, support, and thank them for
the same. I am fully committed in serving the IEEE/Computer Society/TCSC
members and the computing community with distinction (now and into the
future for life long).
After a deep thought, I personally felt that TCSC has many active
volunteers and it is important that they are given opportunity,
encouraged and supported to lead the TCSC community. Some prominent
volunteers include: those serving on the current TCSC executive
committee and leading the organisation of TCSC conferences (-many of
them have recently received IEEE Computer Society Service Awards as a
result of TCSC's nomination). Therefore, I would like to strongly
encourage TCSC members to consider volunteering yourself or know someone
who does a great job and willing to spend sometime for the community
service, please nominate them asap. It is important to ensure that TCSC
has a strong leader with vision, time, and commitment to take it to a
great height during 2008-2009 period.
Thanks you
Best regards
Raj
PS: If you have any query or need some clarifications on what it takes
to run TCSC or a specific activity successfully, please feel free to
contact me. I am ready to share my experiences with you.
